SALSOMAGGIORE TERME, Italy -- French rider Nacer Bouhanni timed another sprint to perfection to win his third stage in this years Giro dItalia, and Cadel Evans overall lead remained unchanged after Tuesdays 10th leg. Bouhanni clocked just over 4 hours on the mostly flat 173-kilometre (108-mile) route from Modena to Salsomaggiore Terme. Italian rider Giacomo Nizzolo finished second for his fourth podium finish of this years race and Michael Matthews of Australia was third, both with the same time as Bouhanni. It was the eighth win this year and the 28th career victory for Bouhanni, who rides for the FDJ.fr team. "The speed was very high at the end. I took Nizzolos wheel and was able to pass him," Bouhanni said of his burst to the line. "My goal is the points jersey." With Mark Cavendish skipping the Giro and with Marcel Kitttle having withdrawn after winning the first two individual stages, Bouhanni doesnt have many rivals in the sprints capable of beating him. "Cavendish is Cavendish and Im Bouhanni," the stage winner said when asked who was faster, adding that he stays fit in the off-season by boxing. A crash in the final kilometre involved American sprinter Tyler Farrar. Belgian rider Yannick Eijssen, a teammate of Evans with BMC, was involved in a fall with about 20 kilometres (12 miles) to go and was put on a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance with a brace around his neck. Evans remained 57 seconds ahead of Colombian rival Rigoberto Uran in the overall standings. Stage 11 Wednesday is a 249-kilometre (155-mile) leg from Collecchio to Savona with two minor climbs, including one shortly before the finish. Evans, the 37-year-old Australian who won the 2011 Tour de France, was looking ahead to Thursdays 41.9-kilometre (26-mile) individual time trial from Barbaresco to Barolo, which celebrates two of Italys best-known wines. "I think it suits me better than most of my overall rivals," Evans said. The race ends in Trieste on June 1. Rod Langway Jersey . Philadelphia kicks off its longest trip of the season tonight, an eight-game swing that will keep the Flyers away from the Wells Fargo Center until they host Ottawa on Jan. 6. By the time the trip ends Jan. 3 in New Jersey, Craig Berubes club will have played 13 road tilts over a 17-game stretch. The Flyers, who went 2-1-1 on a four-game homestand that wrapped Thursday against Florida, is hoping this trek turns out better than its last road trip. Philadelphia went 1-2-2 on a five-game swing from Nov. 29-Dec. 9 and is just 3-9-3 as the visiting team this season. Philadelphia has six wins over its last eight games in Toronto, but the Leafs have claimed two of the past three meetings at Air Canada Centre. Tonights tilt marks the first of three scheduled encounters between the club in 2014-15. The Leafs took two of three from the Flyers in 2013-14 and have earned four wins in the past six meetings overall. After winning the first two games of its homestand by a combined 9-2 margin against New Jersey and Carolina, the Flyers lost two straight against Tampa Bay and Florida. The Lightning posted a 3-1 win in the City of Brotherly Love on Tuesday before the Panthers edged the Flyers in Thursdays shootout battle. It was a short shootout compared to the NHL-record 20-round battle Florida had with the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. The Flyers fell to 0-5 in shootouts this season. Toronto is hoping to rebound tonight after having a six-game winning streak halted in Thursdays 4-1 loss at Carolina. The Hurricanes had lost six in a row before dealing the Maple Leafs the setback at PNC Arena. The Leafs were eyeing their longest winning streak in over 11 years, but Carolina jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back.
